Dedicated to Cindie 09-09-09

I lost a special friend who was like a real sister to me on Wednesday. Here is a story I wrote for her.

There once was a beautiful mermaid; her name was Cindie. She spent her days playing with the seahorses & fish. Swimming between the seaweed & coral. She spent her evenings on a secluded beach watching the sunset.

One night as she was swimming back to her grotto, a great storm had struck the sea. Even though Cindie was a great swimmer, the current was too strong and threw her into a rock. She hit her head and lost consciousness. The storm swept her up and she washed up on a beach.

The next morning she woke to doctors poking and prodding her. When they noticed her awake, they asked her a series of questions What’s your name? Where are you from? Do you know where you are at? She tried to answer their questions but the only thing she knew was her name. She ended up staying in the hospital for a few days while they made sure she was ok . All the while she was there she had the company of this stranger who had found her and they grew close. The stranger’s name was Ladonna and the Doctor agreed to let her take Cindie home but warned her that she had amnesia and to take it slow.

Ladonna took her home and took care of her. Since they didn’t know Cindie was a mermaid they thought that she had really severe asthma. She barely made it out of the house most days and every time she saw fish or sea creatures on the TV she cried. One day she was so tired and sick and could barely breathe. Ladonna decided maybe she should take her back to the beach where she found her since she seemed to be missing the ocean so much. They drove to the beach and Ladonna helped Cindie out of the car. Cindie could barely stand but with Ladonna’s help she started walking towards the ocean and with each step her breathing got better. She let go of Ladonna’s hand and walked into the water as the saltwater rushed around her she remember who she was and turned back into a mermaid. She turned around and saw Ladonna crying; and walked out of the ocean and said “Thank You Ladonna for taking care of me and bringing me home”. She turned around dived into the water and waved before swimming off into the sunset.

*This was written for Cindie Wilson and also for Ladonna; my mermaid and her angel. I love yall!*
